Cold and flu season is here, but fear not!
With a few key strategies, you can support your family's immune system and stay healthy. In this blog, we'll explore some top tips to keep you and your loved ones safe and well during this challenging time.
Tips for heading into cold/flu season
Prioritize sleep
While we sleep, our body rests and repairs. Making sure to get enough quality & quantity of sleep is always my number one priority when supporting my immune system.
Stay hydrated
By staying properly hydrated, it can support important biochemical communication pathways that the immune system uses to detect foreign invaders.
Eat foods rich in immune-supportive nutrients
Vitamin A: Leafy greens, tomatoes, bell peppers, fatty fish
Zinc: Seafood, oysters, meat/poultry
Vitamin C: Citrus fruits, cruciferous vegetables, and berries
Avoid foods that deplete the immune system.
Foods that negatively impact the gut, and thus the immune system include things such as sugar, processed foods, seed oils, and refined grains.
Decrease stress
During periods of stress, the immune system has a reduction in it’s ability to fight off unwanted pathogens.
